My Journey to this work
My semi-nomadic and off-grid childhood in Europe and rural Devon inspired the life-long earth-based spirituality and practical land based crafts and skills & the therapeutic tools which inform much of my work today. Following a life threatening accident as a teenager tools from Tantric Yoga aided my physical, spiritual, and emotional recovery and I have since completed a year-long training in Krama Vinyasa Tantra at Yoga Sara in Bristol as well as a trauma-informed yoga training through the Yoga Roots project. I am currently embarking on an advanced Yoga training in Yoga Tantra.
During my early twenties I embarked on a year and a half solo journey by bicycle across South America, where I re-discovered the importance of wilderness journeying, outdoor living, traditional land based crafts and community singing for mental, spiritual and physical health. This deepened my curiosity about the links between trauma, embodiment, vocal expression, and our capacity to live authentically. For the past three years I have been immersed in the study of Collaborative Vocal Improvisation, which I believe to be a powerful for fostering confidence, authenticity, self expression and connection.
I have a background both as an environmental documentary film-maker and as a nature connection guide / educator for children and young people with complex trauma and additional needs. During the last three years I have also been directing a festival on behalf of The Land-workers Alliance for people to learn about land, farming and social justice.
